Windows 10 Cloud PC: Microsoft’s New Cloud Service

You’ve heard about Windows 10 Cloud for a  long time. This concept was even thought to be an inconsistent rumor, sometimes associated with new operating systems in the cloud, while others were always connected to the Windows 10 format. However, cloud PCs are getting heavier and less available yet, but a series of leaks gives us an idea of ​​what Microsoft is referring to in this new concept: cloud services.

Windows 10 Cloud PC  Broadly speaking, it’s a new experience of virtualization in the cloud. Thanks to that, any system administrator will be able to access a complete Windows 10 system from anywhere with only the need for an internet connection. There is nothing to install or configure. Thanks to this virtualized system, administrators can access, provide support, and even update or improve the configuration of all computers on the company’s network from anywhere. The first step to becoming a celebrity ” Windows as a service ” or “WaaS”.

This new service is not a replacement for your company’s Windows 10 or Windows Server but is intended to complement and improve them.

Windows 10 Cloud PC is, broadly speaking,  an improved version of today’s Windows virtual desktops. This new virtual PC in the cloud is  Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform provides the desktop as a service to all users who need it. This is an always-available service that allows you to control and manage your system infrastructure.

Currently, Microsoft plans to provide administrators with three virtual cloud PC systems.

  • Medium: 2 VCPU, 4 GB RAM, 96 GB SSD.
  • Heavy: 2 VCPUs, 8 GB RAM, 96 GB SSD.
  • Advanced: 3 vCPUs, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD.

These systems in the cloud can be opened from any web browser and can also be connected from remote desktop applications on both Windows and macOS, Android, and iOS.

Cloud PC will be part of Windows 10 X

Windows 10 Cloud PC is mainly developed for enterprises. However, this does not mean that it will be used just for them. Moreover, this new service could be much more integrated than we can imagine. And thanks to all  Windows 10X.

The main limitation of Windows 10X is the inability to run Win32 applications and the system is limited to UWP programs only. Recently, Microsoft has announced that the  Microsoft Graph API  Cloud PC API, which means that the new tablet operating system can run 32-bit and 64-bit Win32 applications through the cloud PC. What we no longer know is how it is done or whether users have to pay a subscription to enjoy this infrastructure. It can also be used only by companies on employee tablets.

Windows 10 cloud PC availability

At this time, this new Microsoft service is in beta only. This means that you will not be contracted or accessible unless selected for this purpose.

If all goes well, Windows 10 Cloud PC will be alongside Windows 10 X, that is,  the XNUMX quarter of 2021, XNUMX month to XNUMX month. But for now, I’m not very familiar with this new service. We will definitely talk a lot next year.
